Current Obsessions - College Football

Nick Saban looking for his lucky number 7 this year.

Labor Day Weekend is here and with it, my Current Obsession. I love this three-day weekend and all it represents, my birthday coming up, the end of summer (hello cooler weather), and the start of the new school year. What I love more than all of that (ok, not more than my birthday), is the start of college football. I love college football. Don't get me wrong, as a huge Cowboys fan, I love pro ball, but I love the passion, enthusiasm, and all out grit of college ball. I love that they play like they want it. They play with heart. They play like it matters. It's funny because I don't even have a favorite team, I just like watching good games, and in college ball, there are tons! This season is looking especially exciting with all the coaching shifts (Jimbo Fisher, Herm Edwards, Chip Kelly, Scott Frost), the outstanding true freshman coming in (JT Daniels at USC), the unfortunate circumstances taking place at Ohio State, and the Alabama quarterback conundrum (Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa) in addition to Nick Saban's quest for another national title (if so, beating out the winningest college football coach, also from Alabama, Bear Bryant). It's all shaping up to be so good, and this weekend kicks off with a number of great games. Your Labor Day Weekend will look like this: Northwestern vs. Purdue, Michigan vs. Notre Dame, Auburn vs. Washington, Alabama vs. Louisville, LSU vs. Miami, Virginia Tech vs. Florida State. I mean I can't even pick! So, bring on my birthday, bring on fall weather, and bring on some great college football!
